11 design students showcase prototypes at Scandinavia's most important furniture fair
For the tenth year on a row BA students at Bergen Academy of Art and Design are qualified to showcase their furniture at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. This is the most important arena for furniture producers and designers in Scandinavia. The fair takes place on 5-9 February 2013.
"We have good experience with exhibiting on the Furniture Fair in Stockholm, says Project Leader Professor Dave Vikøren. - The fair is a good arena for the students to show their design, and to tie valuable connections. Last year several of the students' works attracted attention and one of the objects is now in production."
Light wood and clever solutions are key words for this year's contributions from the students at Bergen Academy of Art and Design. The designs range from integrated sitting comfort, embellished lounge furniture, childhood memories and the revival of traditional furniture making.
The pieces of furniture shown at Greenhouse are full scale prototypes made by the students, mainly at the Academy's workshops.
The Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair is the world's largest gathering for Nordic design. Students and newly established designers get a unique opportunity to tie connections amongst producers and show themselves before media and others within the industry.
The fair has positioned itself as the largest fair for Scandinavian design in the world.
The 11 students are attending their third year of a bachelor degree in design specialising in furniture and interior design at KHiB.
