BA studies at the Dept of Fine Art
The BA programme at the Dept of Fine Art is offered to those who wish to pursue professionalism in their art practice.
Supported by a programme of seminars, workshops, presentations and individual and group critiques, students are encouraged to develop their own practice through self-directed and independent studio-based study.
Fine Art is a dynamic field characterised by constant change and
innovative ideas with regard to medium, materials and critical
debate. This is reflected in the learning environment. Open
discussions of the contexts, tendencies and changes in the
contemporary art scene, culture and broader society are emphasised
and encouraged, as is the ability to reflect over one's own work,
and that of others.
The facilities enable students to explore a wide range of
practices - from two- and three dimensional art, to installation,
video, sound, electronic media and performance art. In addition to
the resources within the Dept of Fine Art, students have the
opportunity to draw upon, and collaborate with, the broad scope of
areas and expertise that are available throughout the institution
as a whole.
