Frid-Jimenez specializes in the field of computational design. She explains: "Computational design means understanding code as a visual language. This language allows us to test complex design concepts in real situations. It's about using the language of the computer to design visual, aural, and sensuous systems that experiment with different forms of cultural production. In my work I use computational technology as a medium in a humanistic way: What I'm interested in is how technology works in a cultural context. I use computation to generate images, networked communities and installations. I write code, but I'm not a programmer, I'm a designer."
